Because this work restores integrity to the soft tissue structure of the body, the results in most cases are very long lasting. These results are of course impacted by the various demands that are placed on the animal in their training program. The animal’s psychological nature also plays an important role here. A nervous horse is obviously going to be tighter by nature and so this type of animal will most likely need a more regular maintenance program than a calm horse. On average, once the animal has gone through the initial “opening” series, it will need another session in about four to six weeks. This session is to pick up any leftovers that did not get worked out during the initial series. After this session, most horses will need a maintenance session approximately every two to four months (depending on training demands).
